Stag Do Krakow: The Honest Guide (2026)
The best value European stag do city in 2026. Real costs, the Kazimierz district explained, and why a group of 8 can have a brilliant long weekend for under £400 per person.
Krakow is the best value European stag do destination for UK groups in 2026. That is not a qualified statement. Prague is cheaper than Amsterdam. Budapest is cheaper than Prague. Krakow is cheaper than all of them.
A beer costs £1.50-2.50. A proper sit-down meal with drinks costs £15-20 per person. A long weekend including flights and a decent hotel can come in under £400 per person all-in, which is less than a weekend in Newcastle for most groups once travel is factored in.
The assumption that cheap means compromised is wrong in this case. Krakow has a genuinely impressive Old Town, one of the best bar districts of any European city in the Kazimierz area, a good nightlife scene, and enough activities to fill a long weekend without repeating yourself.
Why Krakow Works for a Stag Do
Krakow works because it has not been entirely reshaped by stag do tourism the way that some European cities have. The Kazimierz district in particular still feels like a place where actual people go for a drink rather than a set designed exclusively for visiting stag groups. That makes the atmosphere genuinely better, not worse.
The city is compact and very walkable. The Old Town, the Rynek Glowny (main market square), and Kazimierz are all within easy walking distance of each other. No taxis, no logistics.
And the price. At £1.50-2.50 a beer, a kitty goes approximately three times further than it does in Amsterdam and significantly further than it goes in Prague. A group of 8 with a reasonable shared kitty at the start of the night will not be doing emergency cash machine runs by midnight.
Getting There
Flights from most UK airports to Krakow John Paul II Airport run £60-120 return. Ryanair and Wizz Air both operate routes from multiple UK departure points and the journey takes around 2 hours 30 minutes from most airports.
The airport is about 15-20 minutes from the city centre by bus or taxi. A taxi for a group costs around £10-15.
Book early. Krakow has become significantly more popular over the last five years and flight prices have risen accordingly.
Where to Stay
Hotels in the Old Town run £60-85 per room per night on a weekend in 2026. Kazimierz accommodation is similarly priced and puts you in the middle of the best bar district.
The Old Town is slightly more convenient for the first evening when the group is finding its feet. Kazimierz is better for groups that know they will spend most of their time in the bar district.

The Rynek Glowny (Main Market Square)
The main market square is one of the largest medieval squares in Europe and genuinely spectacular, particularly at night when it is lit up. It is the natural starting point for an evening in Krakow.
The bars around the square are slightly more expensive than the rest of the city but still very reasonable by Western European standards. A beer costs around £2.50-3.50 here compared to £1.50-2 a few streets away.
The underground bars beneath the square are worth knowing about. Several bars and clubs operate in the cellars beneath the Old Town, accessed via staircases from street level. Good atmosphere and often better prices than the above-ground equivalents.
Kazimierz
Kazimierz is where the best nights out in Krakow happen in 2026. The streets around Plac Nowy (the small square at the centre of Kazimierz) have a concentrated mix of bars, from traditional Polish pubs to cocktail bars to late night spots. Plac Nowy itself has food stalls selling zapiekanki (Polish open sandwiches) that are the standard late night eating option for everyone in Krakow regardless of where they are from.
Singer Bar is one of the Kazimierz institutions. Sewing machines as tables, candlelit, good cocktails, and the kind of place that has been there long enough to have a proper identity. Good for earlier in the evening.
Clubs
Most clubs operate in the Old Town cellars or around the Rynek Glowny. Entry prices are cheap by European standards, around £5-10, and drinks inside are similarly reasonable.
Activities Worth Doing
Auschwitz-Birkenau: Auschwitz is 70km from Krakow and accessible by bus or organised tour in about 90 minutes. It is one of the most important historical sites in Europe and the proximity to Krakow means many groups choose to visit on a Saturday morning. It requires a certain composure and a certain kind of group. If yours is capable of it, visiting is worth doing. Book tickets online before you go as timed entry reservations are now required.
Shooting Range: Several shooting ranges offer group packages with a variety of firearms. Around £25-45 per person depending on the package.
Go-Karting: Indoor go-kart tracks near the city centre. Competitive, good fun, cheap. Around £20-35 per person.
Vodka Tasting: Poland produces some of the best vodka in the world and a guided vodka tasting works well as a Krakow stag do activity. Several bars and dedicated tasting venues offer group sessions working through a range of Polish vodkas. Costs around £20-35 per person. Better done earlier in the evening before the group's capacity for distinguishing between flavours deteriorates.

How Much Does a Krakow Stag Do Cost?
Based on 2026 prices for a group of 8 on a long weekend (Friday to Monday):
| Item | Total (group of 8) | Per person |
|---|---|---|
| Flights (return, UK) | £480-800 | £60-100 |
| Hotel (3 nights, 4 rooms) | £720-1,020 | £90-128 |
| Shooting range or activity | £200-360 | £25-45 |
| Nights out (3 nights) | £320-480 | £40-60 |
| Food (3 days) | £240-320 | £30-40 |
| Transport (airport + local) | £80-120 | £10-15 |
| Total | £2,040-3,100 | £255-388 |
Krakow is the cheapest destination on this list for a reason. A group of 8 can do Krakow properly, including a group activity, three decent nights out, and good food throughout, for under £350 per person if flights are booked in advance. That is a genuinely remarkable number for a long weekend in a European city.
Krakow Honestly: What to Expect
Krakow will surprise most groups that go expecting a budget compromise. The city is genuinely beautiful, the Kazimierz bar district is one of the better places to spend an evening in Europe, the food is excellent, and the price of everything means the weekend never has the financial anxiety that creeps into trips to Amsterdam or even Prague.
The things to manage: Auschwitz on the itinerary requires the right approach and not every stag group is in the right headspace for it, which is fine but worth deciding in advance rather than on the morning. The weather in autumn and winter is cold and Krakow works best as a late spring, summer, or early autumn trip.
For groups where budget is a genuine consideration, Krakow is not a compromise. It is the right answer.
